Dr. Ann Schwink, D.O. – Treating Opiate Use Disorder in Strong, Coopers Mills, and Albion

Once a go-to for pain, prescription opioids such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, and methadone are now known as poor long-term treatments with big risks. Our country is now faced with an epidemic of opioid addiction – and skyrocketing deaths due to overdoses.

Opiate Use Disorder is a critical issue throughout Maine – a situation made worse by social distancing that accompanies both COVID-19 and rural life. We at HealthReach Community Health Centers know how Substance Use Disorders impact patients, families, and friends. With 12 practices across Central and Western Maine, our organization proudly supports clinicians addressing these challenges – perhaps none so passionate as Dr. Ann Schwink.

A trusted family doctor for over 30 years, Dr. Schwink is dedicated to our mission: To provide high quality, affordable, patient-centered healthcare. She recently refocused her services on the treatment of Opiate Use Disorder, addiction in general, and Hepatitis C infection.

Dr. Schwink now provides services from our Lovejoy (Albion) and Sheepscot Valley (Coopers Mills) practices, in addition to her longtime office in Strong. She holds her doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine from the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine; is board certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine; and holds a certificate of added qualification in Addiction Medicine from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians.

The New Year is a great excuse to make positive changes. If you’d like to speak with a HealthReach clinician about concerns regarding opioids, addiction, or other health issues, visit HealthReach.org for contact details and more information.
